Mr. Hickey Pays a visit!

We were so lucky to have a visit from our very famous weather presenter Mr Jim Hickey.

We learnt so much about presenting the weather.  We asked him so very tricky questions.  He was super impressed by our thinking skills and told us funny stories about weather bloopers and when he remembered when Woodleigh School was a cow paddock.  Thanks again. We will be watching you on TV!

OVER $400 RAISED FOR SPCA!!

Room 15 and their buddy class Room 14 have been busy.  We donated and iced over 400 cupcakes for the SPCA.  What fun we had.  We learnt about marketing, and how to set up and run a stall and not to mention all the money we had to count.

Look at all our Yummy Designs. We are so clever!

Counting the Cash and making the signs!

Congratulations to Georgia, Maddy, Millan and Denby who won the draw to go for a drive to the SPCA to deliver the cash and petfood that we collected.  Oh what a suprise it will be.

Crackle Time!

Our task was to use the electronic scales to measure all the ingredients in grams to make delicious chocolate crackle cakes.

Luke Caysen and Jacob carefully measure out the ingredients.

Carli and Maddy mix it up.

It looks like chocolate crackle, smells like a chocolate crackle and boy it tastes like a chocolate crackle!
Well - guess it tasted great!

RARO TIME

Our task was to use our measuring skills to make RARO. Some of us had 1/2 a litre and others had to make 1 litre.

Ruben makes sure he has the right ratio.
George and Millan have got it. Perfect one litre of raspberry Raro. Brilliant measuring.

We soon learnt that if our measuring was wrong then our Raro drink tasted pretty awful.

Some groups came up with some great ways to halve the Raro if they only had a 500 ml container.
Yummy Carli and Maddy and Gabriela and Charlotte look like their raro was made correctly!

BUSY TIMES

Room 15 have been so busy studying all about the Olympics and learning about measurement for maths.

We have made chocolate crackle, weighed chippie packets to to see if they are fair, competed in tug-o-war competitions, and even iced cupcakes to raise money for charity.  This is the best way to learn by having fun doing real life stuff!! We hope you enjoy our photos.

PIZZA MATHS

Make a plan.  Decide on a pizza flavour and
CO-OPERATE

Mrs R got a sample and it was tasty! Well done girls.  Awesome team work and excellent cooking.  Master chef here you come!
Caysen, Ruben and Seamus work together to make their meat lovers pizza.  I'd have to say it was the best looking meatlovers pizza ever!

Writing the Recipe together.

PIZZA TIME

Room 15 are studying fractions for Mathematics.  We had a brainwave that since we were using Pizzas as an example to learn about fractions what better way to test our understanding but to make pizza and cut it into even pieces.

We were given the task of designing our own pizzas in groups.  We had to decide what ingredients we needed and write our own recipes. We gave our pizzas fancy names and set about cooking them.

We learnt many life lessons.
1) You have to co-operate to work in a team.

2) You have to compromise to make sure everyone is happy.
3) Fractions have to been even - or people will complain!
4) Marshmallows, chocolate and lollies make a jolly good pizza!

THE BIG AUCTION

Go Ruben - You get to choose first. You work so hard.
A big thank you to all those who donated goodies for our auction. The homebaking, the recycled toys, the new goodies all added to the excitement.  The smiles were well worth it.  I wonder what our next auction will be like?  Start earning that money!!

George chooses a soccer ball - and no mum it's not the fluffy dog! Although he was tempted!
Oh Denby - did you have to?
Carli and Ella  - our shopkeepers!  Each got to choose a fluffy dog with their earnings!
Some Mighty Beans from Karsha's toy store - thanks!
Can't decide - too much to choose from
